
From a game called "kolf," perhaps played with a stick and ball on frozen canals of the Netherlands(1), to a game played on unfarmable sandy seaside, bent grass-covered land of Scottland, to a game played on our own dedicated well manicured courses, golf has a long history.

There are a lot of golf courses in the greater Los Angeles area. The Southern California Golf Association (SCGA) has over 400 member courses from Baja California up to San Luis Obispo south (about 4 hours north of LA), and east to the Nevada and Arizona borders.
